This presentation will address the benefits of implementing an evidence-based wellness program to support individuals with developmental disabilities and individuals with behavioral supports. We will share with the workshop participants how we have implemented WRAP as a resource to enhance and maintain those in our IDA programs wellness. There will be examples of how implementing a WRAP plan to individuals who are vocal and non-vocal can enhance overall wellness. In addition, participants will learn how a WRAP in conjunction with a behavioral support plan can significantly improve an individual’s overall wellness and decrease challenging behaviors. Data will be shared on how those who have attended a WRAP Seminar use their toolbox to manage day to day stressors. Supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through a WRAP will provide direct support professionals tools and information to gain a better understanding of those they serve. A WRAP plan identifies wellness tools that are used to keep a person happy and healthy. By using a WRAP, the DSP and individual gain a better understanding on how to use the wellness tools and daily plans to manage their health and happiness. Workshop participants will learn the steps to implement a comprehensive wellness program across the ID/A service system and how to integrate WRAP into a person’s daily life and overall service delivery. Resources and materials will be provided to participants on how they can use WRAP to support themselves and to support persons with developmental distinctions and behavioral supports.
